Overall Comments On Resource Reviewed:

Positive Points of the Reviewed Resource:

The video attempts to reach small children on their own level: Milo is a happy fun-loving boy just like them in many ways. The predominant message to viewers is "Germs are bad." Germs live on your hands and some germs can make you sick. Germs can stay on your hands unless you wash them after holding dirty things. The message or lesson to be learned is kept simple. It is a very entertaining video, and uses effective computer animation in scenes with the magic glasses.

Negative Points of the Reviewed Resource:

Although adult supervision is demonstrated, the video shows boys and girls washing their hands together in the same public restroom. This may give mixed messages to a young audience. At one point the teacher instructed the students to "wash your hands and use paper towels." Soap was mentioned later. The reviewer's copy of the videocassette was not labeled.

General Comments:

Summary:

This video is an effective tool for helping younger children learn the importance of washing their hands. The message is kept simple and entertaining for young viewers.
