Overall Comments On Resource Reviewed: Positive Points of the Reviewed Resource: The video could be a stand-alone piece without the booklet. The instructor's booklet does bring to mind some of the underlying needs, such as the availability of soap, warm water, and effective drying equipment or towels. This is a good training tool to introduce a variety of people to the need for hand washing after use of the restroom facilities and other times when one's hands become soiled. More importantly, it demonstrates how to properly wash hands in a way that is informative as well as being easy to watch. This video can be used for a variety of audiences, including food service personnel. However, if used by food service personnel, the length of time allotted to hand washing should be longer. The video suggests after wetting hands and adding a tablespoon of liquid soap, the scrubbing process should take 15 seconds. The FDA Food Code requires 20 seconds of scrubbing. If this video is used for the regulated community, the instructor should promote the longer time stated in the Food Code.
