Food Safety Resources Reviews General Information
Overall Comments On Resource Reviewed: Positive Points of the Reviewed Resource: Jamie: You learn a lot of kitchen safety things. Patty: The topics covered include physical and chemical safety, and not just microbiological. Blank cards are included for a class or teacher to make customized questions. Jamie: There was not anything negative. Patty: A supplementary curriculum would be needed to teach the concepts before playing the game. One set of cards did not match the color indicated on the game board and were not mentioned in the instructions, and one set of game spaces did not match the color indicated in the instructions. The exterior of the box is poor quality printing with simple, inexpensive graphics, and does not match the high quality game inside. Some questions are ambiguous and some students may find the technical, test-like language used in the questions tedious. There is also not an appropriate age range included with the game materials. Jamie: It was fun. I learned a lot about kitchen safety. Patty: A fun way to review food and kitchen safety. This game would be a good review of food and kitchen safety for upper elementary, middle school, and some high school students. An additional curriculum would be needed before playing the game. Rating:Recommended with Reservations
