Food Safety Resources Reviews General Information
Overall Comments On Resource Reviewed: Positive Points of the Reviewed Resource: This video is fun and engaging for a younger audience. There is a good demonstration of 'spread of germs' by using paint as a visual. Good demonstration of proper handwashing technique. By over-emphasizing a concern for the spread of germs and showing children wearing masks in response to a child with a cold, may have conveyed a 'fear of germs,' (there was even a reference to the Plague) while failing to demonstrate practical solutions to the prevailing question...how to contain a sneeze? This video has an adequate story line and appropriate actors for a younger audience, but there were some inconsistencies in the message stated in the beginning passwords...safety, fitness, and fun. For instance, the opening scene shows the lead character wearing a mask to protect her voice from the paints harmful fumes, yet showed an unventilated workspace. This video is fun and engaging for a younger audience, but requires an instructor's guide to incorporate the handwashing message into a classroom setting, as well as putting into perspective the 'fear of germs' message.
